Need a hand with BinMate? Start here. If you can’t find your answer, get in touch and we’ll help.
Getting started
- Add your bins. Enter your postcode — in selected areas BinMate detects your schedule automatically. Everywhere else, tap a preset (recycling, food, garden, general…) and set the next collection date. It takes about 20 seconds.
- Turn on reminders. Choose the night before, the morning of, and an optional “bring the bins in” nudge — each with a time you can edit.
- That’s it. Your next bin appears on the home screen, and bank holidays are handled for you.
Reminders aren’t arriving on time (Android)
Some Android phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and others) aggressively “optimise” battery, which can delay notifications. In BinMate, open Settings → “Reminders not arriving on time?” for a shortcut to the right battery setting, and allow BinMate to run without restrictions. You can also tap “Send a test reminder” to confirm notifications work on your device.
Does auto-detect work for my council?
Auto-detect is available in selected areas today and is expanding over time. Everywhere else, the quick manual setup means BinMate works for every UK address — you simply pick your bins and set the next date once, and it runs offline from then on.
How do bank holidays work?
BinMate automatically shifts collections that fall in a bank-holiday week by the UK “+1 working day” rule, and shows a “Moved” note explaining why the date changed. It treats England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland correctly — set your region in Settings.
Getting (or restoring) BinMate Pro
Pro unlocks multiple addresses and all accent colours. Open Settings → BinMate Pro and choose £12.99/year or the £14.99 one-time Lifetime unlock. Already bought it on a previous device? Use Restore purchases on the same screen.
